Good poems in this book.
I met Billy Collins‘ work through his efforts as poet laureate of the United States. This collection is great to dip into at will; just like the website he created to showcase the world of poetry for use in any classroom, anywhere.
Had a meeting most of the day so I only got to have #PoetryWednesday with my afternoon 5th graders. This was their poem.
The whole thing is great and you should google it.
Feb. 28: A Summer Day - Reading Oliver all I can think about is that she must've loved the transcendentalists. those final two lines are also gold. #LitsyPoetry365
I'm not gonna lie....I'm not the biggest poetry fan. I used to love it as a child, but as I grew up, I became cynical and jaded, and the majority of it struck me as pretentious. However, I took a Contemporary Poetry class last semester and enjoyed quite a few of those poets, especially Anne Sexton and Sharon Olds, but I definitely have to be in a poetry-reading mood to enjoy it. #augustphotochallenge #poetrybooks 😊📚
Has anyone done this book with a class? I was thinking about doing it with mine, but then I read the poems were intended for high school students? Any thoughts?
