I try to alternate novels & non-fiction when I can (I teach fiction writing so it‘s not always possible). Grabbed this NF book - we‘ll see!

I would like to thank Netgalley for providing me with a free copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
I highly enjoyed this book. It wasn't dry or boring. It was written as narrative nonfiction and I loved it. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in opulent houses or history in general.

The latest book to land on my staff recs shelf at work is the story of a palace, a city; it‘s the story of the birth and evolution of a country. I‘ve been finding a lot of comfort in reading historical books lately. This one was particularly inspiring - especially the sections about the people‘s revolt against communism, and the story of Eisen‘s mother‘s journey from Prague, to Auschwitz, to America.
Narrated by JEFF GOLDBLUM!!! TBH I think I would listen to anything he narrated. Hear a sample at https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=260493807926759&id=193166293135.
