Quite a bit of the DCI Banks novels take place in pubs or drinking at home, particularly Banks & his whiskey obsession, though he‘s also partial to a good wine or boutique beer. I think most cop based books have more than their share of drinking scenes, you‘d think that all police have alcohol problems!🍷🍺🥃🍹
pickAfter a bit of a mid-series lull I think this series has once more become top notch. If you like British Detective fiction you need to read this series as it is one of the best. You won‘t struggle for anything to read - no.26 comes out later this year. This was a gripping story following a woman‘s body being found in a car involved in an accident a few days before. Only it wasn‘t in the car when the police originally attended the accident!
Starting the most recent book in the Inspector Banks series, one of my favourite detective series. Strange to think this is Book 25 in the series and it is 32 years since the first one was published! 😳
pickA young local student‘s body is found in an abandoned car. A man in his sixties is found dead in a gully up on the wild moorland. Mystery surrounds these two cases. How are they connected? A source close to Annie reveals an old enemy has returned in a new guise. Glad to be back with Banks to see what is going on in his life. 25th book and I can't wait for the next one. Highly recommend this series to those who love British mystery.

pickAnd I‘m done. Finally! For it being No25 in the series, while not quite as amazing as some of his previous DCI Banks books(Aftermath & Piece Of My Heart are 2 of the best imho)it was still a cracking good read. Thank god Robinson is more like Karin Slaughter than like Patricia Cornwall in that regard. And that ending! He better be writing the next one very bloody quickly after a cliffhanger like that.🎢
Trying desperately to ignore my eye strain headache and finally get this finished tonight. I really need my eyes fixed!!! My doctor suggested I stop reading until I see the ophthalmologist. He apologized after I bitch slapped him.🤣 But seriously, come on Eyes. Give me a break 👀

Next up in my reading list is the new DCI Banks novel from Peter Robinson. No25 in the series,Banks & Annie both have unexplained bodies on their hands which end up tenuously linked.If you‘re a newbie to this series I highly recommend starting from the 1st book, Gallows View.Written in the mid 80s, it‘s a little bit dated, but there‘s so much context that you need to know if you want a real picture of Banks & his squad(yes I know,25 books!)
The first #BookMail of August is my preorder of Peter Robinson‘s latest DCI Banks novel. I first got hooked on this series when I picked up a copy of Aftermath 15yrs ago from one of those stalls in the middle of shopping centres that have discounted books. It intrigued me coz it was all about what happens after the killer is caught. Then I went back & found every book in the series & I haven‘t been disappointed yet. This is No25.
