A trans man in a '78 manga. Not really something you read for the narrative, but was interesting to see an older, less common(?) media with any sort of rep, especially featuring an affirming medical professional 😅

A #queer story written in the 1970s, #translated from Japanese. Claudine, the character at the center of this romantic tragedy set in 1920s Paris, is just not believable as a trans man. The only reason I‘m giving it a so-so rating instead of a pan is because of the lush artwork. If you are more interested in #manga storytelling ability than in the story itself, then pick this up. #LGBT #graphicnovel
From childhood in early 20th century France, Claudine always said he was a boy, even though his body is female. Claudine‘s psychiatrist: “I have no hesitation in diagnosing Claudine as a transsexual.” One big problem with the premise of this #manga is that Claudine is portrayed looking so feminine. Even to call him a soft butch is a stretch. #LGBT
