I have not been able to participate in #foodandlit for a few weeks, but feel like I am now settling back into a routine! While this is not specifically Israeli, I had to share my favorite Jewish cookbook I rely on for every Jewish holiday!
Some faves: Sea Bass in Saffron-Tomato Sauce, Adi‘s Kibbutz honey chicken, carrot salad w/ cranberries & mint, Israeli salad, & hamentaschen with date filling
MySharonaK This looks like such a wonderful book! Thank you for sharing ❤️ The chicken in honey (and later on in Coca Cola) is so very Israeli. 4y
alisiakae @MySharonaK omg the Coke thing confused me so much when I first heard it! But then I tried it, and YUM. One of my hubby‘s aunts makes a delicious chicken in soda dish (edited) 4y
MySharonaK @4thhouseontheleft Yes I get now why it was so confusing though, it doesn‘t sound like something that would make sense but it does somehow! Now I‘m hungry, oops 😅🤣 4y

Cinfhen What @Butterfinger said!!! Must look for this cookbook!!! Thanks for sharing 4y
alisiakae @Butterfinger there are so many great recipes in this one! 4y
alisiakae @Cinfhen I think I‘m going to make honey chicken and Israeli salad today after talking about it last night 🤣 4y
Cinfhen That sounds WONDERFULLY DELICIOUS 💚we eat Israeli salad all week long! We call it chopped salad now and it‘s become a staple in the fridge 😁 4y
Butterfinger @4thhouseontheleft @Cinfhen is Israeli salad made of cucumber, pepper, onion, and tahini sauce? I've had it twice this month - once at a restaurant and then we made it at home. I love it. 4y
alisiakae @Butterfinger there are lots of different varieties. @cinfhen how do you make yours? I don‘t put tahini in mine, ans I leave out the onion when making it for just us because I hate raw onion 😃. Sometimes I add in chopped avocado 4y
Butterfinger @4thhouseontheleft avocado sounds good. 4y
Cinfhen I omit onion too @4thhouseontheleft and I don‘t add tahini sauce. I generally use 3 vine tomatoes, a handful of baby cucumbers (6-8) an orange pepper and one yellow pepper. I chop it all really small and then I add sea salt, fresh black pepper & splash of lemon juice. I like chopped fresh cilantro & parsley but my son & hubs don‘t so sometimes I add it just to my salad @Butterfinger It‘s really good with feta cheese and basil too!!! (edited) 4y
TheBookHippie I love this cookbook cover!! 4y
