So far the book is in cool texting-like format and in some parts have sticky notes and writing on them. It is very interesting but I'm not going to spoil anything.
I would say this book dealt with race issues in a very heavy handed way but in the current climate heavy-handed seems the norm. This book comments on a lot of different issues. I wish the incarcerated brother had been allowed a voice. Text messages, letters, and illustrations were used to detail the events surrounding the breakout for a time capsule. This book begs the question “How do we want to be remembered?”
5 stars! This book was filled with important topics that people should be discussing. Being a middle grade book, the author did a great job of bringing these topics up in a way that was fun, easy to understand, and can facilitate discussion!
I love how the author used various forms of writing (letters, announcements, text messages, articles) to tell this story.
Trying to read a middle grade novel here and there! This one caught my eye!
