MelissaSue81 My daughter started the series a couple years ago, but I think it was right around this one that she stopped. I don‘t know why, but she totally bailed on the series. 6y

I know this book was released in the 90‘s. Could you show up for a flight 5 minutes before takeoff back then? I thought these days you need to be at least an hour early. 🤔

TracyReadsBooks In the 80s you could go hang out in the airport without a ticket. I know because I used to go to O‘Hare Airport with friends and we‘d watch planes take off and land. We could get all the way to the gates no problem. Couldn‘t get on a plane but we really could do just about everything else! (Weird to think about it now with all the rules.) 6y
Chrissyreadit Put till 9/11 you could run and board with 5 minutes to spare. The first place you used your ticket was at the boarding of the plane. I would be dropped off 1/2 hour before flight if it was Laguardia, hour if JFK but only due to size. 6y
Chrissyreadit Oh and you could go to the plane with family and meet them when they got off the plane. 6y
JHSiess Used to walk right up to the gate to greet arriving friends & relatives. Flying was an event, too. My sister sewed new outfits for us to wear when we flew to Minneapolis to spend Xmas with our aunt & uncle (first time I flew). As in restaurants, you sat in the smoking or nonsmoking section of the plane. But you came off the plane smelling like smoke regardless of where you sat. 6y
Graywacke Love this question. They used to hold to door for “runners” 6y
