Good cat ? & mouse ? game.
My 1st book of hers. She will be at #AdventuresByTheBook #SuperBookIV in February so I‘m trying to get a taste of her work before I see her.
Love the TS Elliot connection!
A cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES"; specifically, one that is "familial", one that is "particular", and one that is "secretive"/ineffable.

Trust me…when I tell you to skip it and go watch a YouTube documentary for 15 minutes about Casey Anthony. Spare yourself the forced fictional shit and unbelievable gaslighting and manipulation. It wasn‘t suspenseful. It wasn‘t engaging. It was exasperating and dreadful and just fuck off the both of you with your horseshit. Ugh. So glad I‘m done.

This book started out really good. But by the time I finished it I just didn't care whether Ashlyn was guilty or not. It dragged on way too long.

It was definitely suspenseful! The cat and mouse game was strong and I would have never guessed the ending. Disappointed in how it ended up though. I can‘t say much without giving it away, but it‘s still a great book.

This book was sooooo good, until the end. I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride and then a kiddy ride. 😡
I‘m giving it a pick because it was so engrossing and 7/8 of the ride was so worth it!!!

Booknerd2 @rather_be_reading It‘s a Christmas puzzle 🧩. Didn‘t get it done. New puppy. No time. 😜 It‘s still on the table. 6y

This one kept me on shaky footing! At times I didn't know what was going to happen, or even what was 'real'. Juicy plot and crafty characters!

I was drawn to this book for its premise of a grief-stricken former investigative journalist writing a true crime book about a mother on trial for killing her child. There is no fast-paced action here; it's a psychological novel with a slow, steady build-up. It's less about twists than about how "truth" can be utterly manipulated. It made me think about the media, sensationalism, & our collective fascination with crime. A solid read. #netgalley

batsy This is weird but I've also just reached the part in The Brothers Karamazov where the *truth* of a crime similarly remains out of the mental grip of everyone. Odd but interesting resonance with Trust Me, a contemporary psychological thriller set in the age of corporate+social media.

Cathythoughts I‘m going to have to stack this one 👍🏻❤️ 6y
erzascarletbookgasm Sounds good, stacking! Interesting coincidence with The Brothers K. I haven‘t even reached the crime yet. 😬 Still in Part One! 6y

saresmoore Cool #bookserendipity! Or maybe “cool” isn‘t quite the right descriptor... 6y
batsy @Cathythoughts I'd love to know what you think if you read it! 6y
batsy @erzascarletbookgasm Definitely a book to take your time with... And to make you look around at your own life and think, "At least I'm not a Karamazov sister!" ?❤️ 6y
batsy @saresmoore Ha 😅 6y
RohitSawant Sounds interesting! Slow-paced psychological portraits can be so captivating. 6y
batsy @rohit-sawant Yes, I'm really drawn to those narratives and can never resist a book like that! This is the first time I'm reading this author and luckily it was an intriguing read. 6y
tpixie Ha! I just read your review on Goodreads, then found this and realized it was you! Great review!! I‘m reading this book because her newer ones are not available to loan as e-books. She‘s going to be at a book event in February with 19 other authors - Adventures By The book SuperBook 4 (edited) 2y
batsy @tpixie Thank you! Yes, I was grateful for the galley copy; her books aren't widely available here. That event sounds fun! Are you planning to attend? 2y
tpixie @batsy yes! I‘m so excited. It‘s mid February- an all day event, with breakfast & lunch. It‘s in San Diego so I‘ll get to spend time with my oldest son as well. 💝 2y
batsy @tpixie Oh, excellent! Have a fantastic time 💕 2y

"We live in such fragile equilibrium. When one thing changes, everything else has to readjust, same as when a new person steps onto an elevator. People move, shift positions, make sure the remaining room is properly allocated. Most people in my life have decided to leave me alone. It‘s my fault, I understand that."
I have no clue where this story is going . . . which is making it fun!

This book caught me from its very first pages!! It involves a character in #jail- and definitely with a #HoleInYourSoul! I enjoyed reading this quite a bit and it would have easily been a one-sitting read had my lamp not needed to be recharged!!! 😬 #ReadingResolutions #ABBAInAugust

Wow. I really didn't care for this one. I finished it, but I'm not sure why. There is such a thing as too many plot twists. Like, way too many.

I would love to hear some other opinions.

Maybe I'm just fried on the genre? I have read a LOT of unreliable narrator thrillers this year.

Samplergal I just received it in the mail. I‘ll let you know. 6y
