pickI appreciated this collection of poems, each selected by one of a diverse group of women. Each poem came with an intro from the woman who selected it, describing how they came across it or why it moved them. Those intros added a lot of depth to my appreciation and understanding of the selections. There is a companion, Poems That Make Grown Men Cry, that I am looking forward to picking up.

pickI enjoyed the book for lots of reasons. The poems themselves, of course. Many were old friends; some were new to me & didn‘t much affect me, but other new ones did bring me to tears. So the poetry alone is worth the read, & I‘ve added several poets to my list of ones to look up & read more. But in addition to the poetry, many of the introductions were lovely too, & have led to another list, of women I want to know more about and read more of.
So, this is related to the first photo I posted here when I joined. 😊 I only started reading this 2 days ago. This is a wondeful, wonderful book! 😍 Makes me think about my favorite poem 'Dream Girl' by Carl Sandburg. 😘 What poems make you cry, everyone? Care to share? 😊
