I love this book so much! There are no words! I got my reading mojo back. How can someone write something this great? Read it! Abel from a poor background, Kane from a privileged background, both making something big of themselves in their own worlds, colliding at times. They should have been best friends, but… heartbreaking, but a perfect book🥹😍❤️😍❣️🙏🏼

Cuilin Read it 35 years ago and it‘s sequel, yep I remember loving it. I also read in 24 hours 1y

A story that captured the life of two boys from two different families. It‘s so wonderful to come across a book that really takes you through an entire life journey. It goes without saying that not everything in life is perfect. Yet, each and every one of us has to find our own way to get through the tough times. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am excited to start reading the next one!

This was okay as a quick in-between-other-books read, but it was somewhat unremarkable and fairly predictable.

A great plot even if the reveal at the end was obvious. Whilst engaging, the writing didn't set me on fire. Archer spins a good yarn but I like my books to be more literary in content or at least have some quotable passages that give you an insight into life. Hence: ⭐⭐⭐

This book starts at World War I and ends during the days after the World War II. It covers the whole life story of two men, from their birth to the last days of their lives. All the struggles they face, their success after that and a perfect end for the long rivalry between them. There are few incidents in which your heart cringes for the fate of the characters. You get connected to the characters to that level. It's a great story and must read.

This is a fascinating story following two people born in completely different circumstances - William Kane, born into a wealthy banking family and Abel Rosnovsky, born into poverty in Poland - and how their stories intertwine. Archer is great at developing characters whose actions you completely understand. 3.5⭐

I‘ve never read any Jeffrey Archer but these two, his most famous novel and the first of a series he wrote, are free on Amazon UK for kindle so I‘ve downloaded them for possible lockdown reading (or for them to languish on the TBR...🤷‍♀️)

This is absolutely a masterpiece, I loved Abel from the beginning, the grit, the determination to succeed even the determination to see off Kane for one last time was beautiful. Kane on the other hand is a son of big family and grew in the circumstances one would love to except the death of his beloved father. The feud between them was the very very intriguing factor of this. Will try to take the positives out from the characters.😉

I loved the book. And when I say I loved it, it means I loved it from the very first page to the last page. There was never a dull moment which hampers the overall experience. I generally like Jeffrey Archer but never in my life I thought that I would love the book this much. I cannot think of anything major which needs improvisation. A definite page turner. If only we had an equally amazing movie based on it.
5/5🌟

More like book to mini series, or limited series as they call it today. Seeing recent posts of the buddy read of Thorn Birds has me reminiscing about the mini series of the '80s. My mom would read the books and then we'd watch the mini series together. I was too young to read the books then but I have since read all the books above as an adult, reliving my childhood tv viewing. Kane and Abel was my favorite.

LeahBergen Kane and Abel is the only one I didn‘t read or see. 😆 7y

BlameJennyJane Wow! What a throwback! I loved all of these, especially Kane & Abel. Years ago I went looking for it again because my paperback has fallen apart and could not find it. Eventually it came out on Kindle and rereading it was so much fun! I did this with Danielle Steele novels and (edited) 7y
mrp27 @AmyG My mom watched Rich Man Poor Man but I was too young at the time for that one. I'm amazed at what caught and held my attention at 9/10 years old, this stuff certainly wasn't meant for kids! (edited) 7y
mrp27 @PurpleyPumpkin Mine too. There are so many others, North and South, The Two Mrs Greenvilles... I could go on and on and we watched all of them. 7y
mrp27 @BlameJennyJane Kane and Abel was sooo good! I never read Danielle Steele but my mom is a huge fan. I did however read all The Flowers in the Attic books. 7y
