A fun, quick read continuing Mathew Dilke's espionage adventures in the micro-world. This one has an environmentalist flavour to it, which doesn't get in the way of the action. I like these books best when Dilke has to figure out some way of adapting to the extreme conditions and vicious denizens with which his 1/4 inch height brings him face-to-face.

One advantage to rereading books in the information age is that I can look up the micro-beasts mentioned in the story and see what Dilke and his companions are up against, in this case pine processionary caterpillars. I've also learnt about urticating hairs, which seems likely to become swiftly important!

As I recently (well, a couple of years ago!) reread the first book in the trilogy, "Cold War in a Country Garden", I think I'll reread the second instalment of Mathew Dilke's miniature spy adventures. These books would be an excellent basis for a film or TV series.
