This little guy has been busy, busy, busy. Had to snuggle him to relax him to sleep. Now I have more reading time! #WinWin

I've been waiting for months for this book to come in. I requested that my library get it, and THEY ACTUALLY DID! Someone doesn't want me to read though...

The latest Jane Yellowrock arrived on my Kindle before I left on vacation. I enjoy Faith Hunter's writing, and the recent story arc built to this novel. I expected massive battles against baddies, but instead, the attention was on Jane's emotional turmoil. I was disappointed in the way the duels against the European vampires were written, and the story‘s ended had me scrambling to the author's website to see if it was the final book in the series.
May has been crazy busy. I have been reading Dark Queen for weeks. BUT, today I finished the May Bag of The Month. So happy.
There are a lot of twists & turns that occur throughout reading Dark Queen but everything truly is about the Sangre Duello. The blood battle itself was truly fascinating & I loved the buildup leading to it. The action that takes place during these battles was pretty intense and there is some creative play with the rules and dynamics of the battle that are both frustrating but at the same time comical. www.thegenreminx.com #TheGenreMinxBookReviews

Faith Hunter puts all of her experience, all her skill and talent on display here -- and it works. This is really a tour de force for her and it's just a pleasure to read. There's some brave choices she makes here -- totally shaking up the series, the status is not quo, as a horrible doctor might say.
I laughed, I got angry, I cheered, I fretted, I got awfully close to letting water leak out of my eyes -- I loved this book from start to finish.
