Great way to teach children about a legendary poet
“Poetry is the voice of the people.”
This biography introduces children to the life of Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, focusing on his passion for writing and his love for the people of his country.
This story gives students an opportunity to read about someone they may not know too much about and exposes them to different cultural perspectives.
This picture book walks through the story of famous poet Pablo Neruda. The story discusses how the Chilean poet found inspiration for his poems and how he used his gift to speak out against poor working conditions of miners. What really stuck out to me were the illustrations in this book and the integration of Spanish words alongside their English counterparts.
"In every human being are combined the most distant epochs, passivity, mistakes, sufferings, the pressing urgencies of our own time, the pace of history."

#ReadingResolutions Day 3: For #LaborDayReads, I am featuring Neruda whose poetry represents the voice of the people. The strength of this book is its ability to capture the essence of Neruda, the man, through the beautifully-rendered illustrations and the simple narrative. More importantly, the authors were able to capture Pablo‘s love for humanity and his advocacy to give voice to the masses. My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-1Fw
