What a fantastic book about the power of pen pals! They share the details of their lives and come to realize how similar they are but in different ways.

Spending some much needed quality time with my niece and she said there no black children in book's... well auntie Kay got to work we sang nursery rhymes with the hand action's, we found a few adventure books all with coloured children in and she loved it, we also got a date to do it all next week. Mamma was very happy too.

This RF book is probably one of my favs so far! It‘s a winner of the Ezra Jack Keats Book Award and is a cute story about two boys who are pen pals, one in India and one in the United States. They tell each other everything about their life and their world and how they are sort of the same, but different! Great story and I think it would be cool to do pen pals with our students!
I thought this book was really cute. It follows Elliott and Kailash. Elliott lives in the US and Kailash lives in India and they become pen pals. They learn that their worlds are the same but also different. I would share this book with the little I teach. I think they would enjoy it!

This cute F, PB is perfect for teaching inclusion. This story follows two boys from 2 diff parts of the world that find out things aren‘t really that different. This book is perfect to have for ESOL students to connect to (ESOL #19). This website provides printable and ideas to help all students become more socially aware of diff cultures. Ok, I have some criticisms about this one, all rooted in the fact this is not an #OwnVoices book. It could have been co-authored (like Save Me A Seat) to much better impact.
Same, Same but Different is a (RF) picture book written and illustrated by: Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw. This amazing picture book tells the story of Elliot and Kailash. They are pen pals. By exchanging letters and pictures, they learn that their world might look different, but they are actually similar. 👦🏼🌎👦🏽 #UCFLAE3414SP18
