Well, I‘m a Florida native and we don‘t have snow days here. I lived in California for a couple of years during college and saw about an inch of snow exactly one time. 😆 So I can‘t relate. But it sounds like fun!

Librariana I live in Washington state, so sometimes we have snow as early as October and as late as April. My must haves are electricity (no joke! We've lost power a couple of times due to outages caused by snow storms), heat (a working fireplace is a must!), blankets, coffee (or hot cocoa!), fuzzy socks, and PLENTY of reading selections 😊 5y
Librariana Oh yeah! And food! A stocked pantry and fridge with lotsa snacks 😁 5y
JenlovesJT47 @Librariana sounds good to me! I guess our equivalent here would be hurricane days. 😆 Got to have lots of snacks and ways to entertain ourselves when the power goes out! 5y

coffees @JenlovesJT47 ohhh so what would your must haves be for a hurricane day? 5y
JenlovesJT47 @Crimson613 the last bad one hit here two years ago. We stocked up on water, snacks and sodas. We put the mattress in the hallway and slept there — it sounded like people were walking on the roof! The power was only out for a day for us. I read books and we did puzzles. I don‘t mind too much as long as the house isn‘t gonna fall down! 5y
coffees @JenlovesJT47 that's true, i have a fear of water coming into our house because MY BOOKS, we get a lot of basement floods here, idk what i'd do for a hurricane :00 but it looks like you've got a fun plan :D

6pts!

What‘s Great About Florida? Is a NF for IR that explains why Florida is one of the world‘s top places to visit and live! Florida is known for its year-round warm weather and theme parks, but people come to the state for its nature and history too. This book covers the top ten things that make Florida great! 🍊🌴🌊🏄🏽‍♂️🚀🐊☀️ #UCFLAE3414SP18

WendyV What would motivate students more than a real life experience field trip to some of the places mentioned that make Florida great? (UDL 7.2) Students could enjoy learning about Florida‘s history with a trip to Saint Augustine or they could explore the past, present, and future of the US space program by visiting Kennedy Space Center. These field trips couldn‘t be more hands on when learning about what makes Florida great. (EL 46) 7y
WendyV Author Mary Meinking has written over 40 children‘s book, many of which are amazing NF books that I would love to add to my classroom library. Check out her website that lists her books so you can see why you should have her books in your library too! http://www.marymeinking.com/site/1e01584db2664d2fa43c4dbe76c24339/default? (edited) 7y
Fiona_i This is a book I would want to use in my classroom. It is important students learn about the state they live in. 7y
NanaBurf Great idea to incorporate this book prior to a field trip. 7y
SadiqaH I like the web site and this book can be easily coordinated with social studies lessons. 7y
