I enjoyed this gentle Aussie mystery. Random pick from the library.
I looked at the spine labels for a kangaroo. 🦘😊

This was a quick and engaging read, and I thought this version of “charming small town that‘s actually kinda toxic” was done very well. Also appreciate that there were a number of ways the mystery could have gone, yet I still definitely didn‘t see the correct one coming. However, part of the reason is it did feel a bit...outlandish? Just a smidge over the line of believable for me. But the writing was sharp & I‘ll read more from the author. 3/5 ⭐️

A lovely online friend sent me an extra ARC she had for this one, and it sounds great. I‘m especially drawn to the fact that it‘s a mystery where the main character is a civil lawyer instead of a detective or something. And it‘s Australian, and it seems like we‘re getting a lot of terrific literature out of Australia lately! #nowreading

Lizpixie I loved this one. Read it a few weeks ago👍 5y

A well written Australian crime novel about secrets in a small town. Eliza has returned to Kinsale as the lawyer representing the company accused of causing the bushfire that nearly destroyed the town. While there, she witnesses an assault before bones found at the site of an old house gets her entangled in the past, including the reasons she left in the first place. Well paced and an easy read with a few twists & turns.

Next up is this Australian Crime/Mystery novel about a lawyer who returns to her country town that was ravaged by a bushfire two years ago. The town has a class action against the company they claim was the cause, but Eliza is not representing the town, she‘s on the other side. Then bones are discovered at the site of the fire & she‘s convinced it‘s a girl everyone assumed ran away when they were teenagers. It‘s promising so far🤞

JennyM I liked this one, too #ozfiction 5y
Lizpixie @JennyM I was gifted All These Perfect Strangers by a fellow Aussie litten awhile ago but never got around to reading it. After this one though, I‘ll definitely be picking it up👍 5y

#BookMail Pt4 This is the 2nd crime novel from the expat Londoner living in Melbourne. Lawyer Eliza Carmody returns to her hometown to work on her biggest case, problem is she‘s defending a big Corp against a bushfire class action suit brought by the town. Then bones are discovered at an historic homestead & she becomes more entangled in the case. I like this cover, but I thought I‘d bought the better one with the black cockatoo on green.🤷🏻‍♀️

MicheleinPhilly Is this a standalone? 5y

Another great Aussie crime novel, packed full of secrets, lies, and small country town intrigue.

Freespirit I don‘t know this one @JennyM sounds good! 6y
JennyM @Freespirit a few people were telling me about how good it was, but not really that known. A bit Jane Harper-ish, although not as atmospheric in descriptions. It was good. 6y

I read this Australian crime novel last night - it‘s REALLY GOOD. If you enjoy Jane Harper, I think you‘ll really like this one. It‘s refreshing to read a mystery where it isn‘t easy to guess what is going on. Out 7/2 in the US. 📚❤️📚

CarolynM Lovely to see this. Aoife is a friend of a friend, I'll pass on your enjoyment.🙂 6y
Liberty @CarolynM How lovely! I read her first book on Friday - loved that too. ☺️ 6y
