This poem struck me hard this week as work stuff has been taking up headspace at all hours. I just completed the 30 day yoga challenge with Adriene with a friend, and we are continuing on, and also just started Sharon Salzberg‘s 28 day meditation challenge in an effort to self care during a pandemic...and yet this passage makes “calm down” seem so dang simple. I just need to get there and stay there. Somehow. ☺️

Moonprismpower I‘m very jealous that you were able to dedicate time every day to yoga. Dealing with anxiety each day too and I find that doing my job really alleviates some of that. And reading and walking too, when I feel up to it! (edited) 4y
Chrissyreadit I am very impressed with your yoga! And thank you for sharing this poem! Succinct and powerful in a gentle nourishing way. 💕😘 4y
JenReadsAlot I might have been awake at 330am thinking about work... I'm doing the meditation challenge too so hoping that helps! 4y
peaKnit @Jenreads oh no! And I think I recall you being a good sleeper normally?! I got up and made banana bread very quietly...lol 4y

Poet as Immortal Bird

Ron Padgett, 1942

A second ago my heart thump went and I thought, "This would be a bad time to have a heart attack and die, in the middle of a poem," then took comfort in the idea that no one I have ever heard of has ever died in the middle of writing a poem, just as birds never die in mid-flight. I think."
