One Was Lost | Natalie Richards
Sera must find the truthbefore a killer finds her. Murder, justice, revenge... So not a part of the plan when Sera set out on her senior trip. She figured a hike through the woods would be safe, uneventful. Damaged. Deceptive. Dangerous. Darling. These are the words scrawled on their wrists when they wake up in the middle of nowhere. Their supplies are destroyed. Half the group is gone. And they find four dolls acting out a murderdolls dressed just like them. Suddenly it's clear; they're being hunted. And with the only nice word on her wrist, Sera falls under suspicion.

Yikes. Too scary for me. Thought reading it off-camping season, from my Simmons Beauty Rest, would make it an easier read but n.o.p.e! Would have DNF but wouldn't have been able to not know what happened and worry that I left those kids in a virtual woods to die. I'm sure it is just the type of books some readers are looking for, but not me.

Amazing! If you like mystery/ thrillers where you can't solve it yourself, this book is for you. Great characters with deep secrets along with a touch of romance. My middle schoolers will devour this!

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Suspenseful, easy-to-read, YA thriller. A group of 4 classmates gets cut off from their group while on a field trip. Suddenly, they're being stalked...but why? And by whom?

This is fast paced with a predictable plot and the ending was so-so but I actually enjoyed reading it!

While gathering experience required for graduating, Sera and three classmates are separated from their camping group by a rainstorm and a flood. They spend the night on higher ground...and that's when when the personal threats and mind games begin. You'll want your nightlight during those. Then the story crescendos into what could've been a terrifying climax, but is only mildly interesting as the attacker is a dull cliché. Stop reading at chap 31.

Just in time for Halloween: Natalie Richards' dark, thrilling ONE WAS LOST is the perfect read to scare you.

Damaged. Deceptive. Dangerous. Daring. Are they labels or a warning? The answer could cost Sara everything.

Bum bum bum. 😱😱😱

This book was just the mystery/thriller that I needed, an easy read that was also a survivor story. But what jumped out for me the most was that this was a coming-of-age story for the MC, Sera. And really this is a journey of her trying to escape the place that's she in, both physically and in her mental image/space. The writer really did her job by opening a teenager's mind so that the reader could relate.

I enjoyed the survival aspect of this story but the mystery was pretty easy to figure out.

While on a mandatory senior field trip, a flash flood cuts off Sera and three classmates from their group with no way to call for help.

When the group of teens wake up in the woods, the words "Damaged, Deceptive, Dangerous, Darling" are inked onto their skin. Are they labels? A warning? They must find the truth before a killer finds them.

I feel like this yet another case where I‘m just the wrong reader for this book. There was nothing inherently wrong here, Richards is a good writer. The pacing was a little too frenzied for me. I think if I had read this while I was a teenager I would have enjoyed it more. For readers first starting out with thrillers this would be a good place to begin, but for the more seasoned thriller readers I would pass on this one.

Never before have I met a YA suspense thriller that lived up to my expectations and left me guessing at every turn. Richards weaves an unpredictable story, filled with anxiety inducing twists. Though momentum takes awhile to build, I found my heart racing every time I turned the page. One Was Lost reads like a horror movie! (This ARC was provided to me thanks to sourcebooks.)

Just posted a full review over at Amongtheauthors.com One was Lost will hit the shelves in October, and you're going to want to get your hands on it. Incredibly creepy thriller that will have you guessing until the very end. Also, cheers to my fellow Ohioan, Natalie Richards!
