Repost for @Librarybelle

March‘s #LiteraryCrew selection aligns perfectly with the Ides of March…Julius Caesar, Rome, and politics.

For this low key #BuddyRead read at your own pace throughout the month and discussion questions will be posted on March 31st. @Librarybelle will post periodic check ins throughout the month.

Please let @Librarybelle know if you would like to be added to or removed from the tag list.

4⭐ #24B4Monday 2hrs before sleep
A tale of ancient Rome. A tale of the woman behind the throne of Octavianus Caesar, also know as Augustus Caesar. Livia is a woman ahead of the times, constrained by the morès of the age. Her love for Caesar is evident throughout the tale. Very well written!

Excellent read after a shaky start

Of course I wanted to control Tavius—to an extent. And to our mutual benefit, and the benefit of Rome. Any woman who says she does not want to guide the actions of the man she loves is, in my opinion, lying.

I wonder how many women from time immemorial have thought that if only women could rule the world it would be better than it is. Really, has any woman not, some time or other, thought that? Of course I thought it too. I believed women were unquestionably less bloodthirsty than men. Then I met Fulvia.

Another bought-electronically-on-a-whim-for-cheap pick. Historical fiction from Livia's perspective - unexpected but it works. An intriguing character.
