Got my new tattoo entirely inspired by the lone city series of amy ewing! I am so in love with these books andbi finally decided to make that love something permanent! I'm so happy with this and will cherish what these books have meant and still mean to me!
(The Lone City 2/3) This was pure filler but it was shorter than the first book, we were introduced to new characters, lots of building blocks were placed for the final book and it was well paced, overall I'm very happy! (20/01/2020 4⭐)
Definitely a bridge book. About half the book is spent escaping, and the rest in setting up the origin of the world's magic. It may have been the mood I was in, but I didn't really connect with this book. I didn't buy into the magical world-building - it felt a bit silly to me. Not sure whether I'll finish the series.
Die liebe @nessamiras_wonderland hat mich zu #fellinlovewithabookcover getaggt! ??? Ich liebe die Cover der Juwel Trilogie! Besonders das zweite sieht so schön aus! Ich bin froh dass mir die Bücher auch von der Geschichte her so gut gefallen! ???
This was def my favorite of the "Jewel" trilogy. It opened up the world and explained a bit about Violet's (and the other surrogates) power- it reminded me of Irish druids for some reason- but nothing like them if that makes sense? I think it's because the story takes place on an island and has women protectors. I liked that. This also reminded me a bit of "The Hunger Games" as an underground revolution is planned. Fast moving and quick read.
I finished The Jewel this morning and went to library right away to get this one 😄 I'm excited and can't wait to start it.
a cliffhanger? again?! when is the next book coming out? these were my thoughts the first time I finished this book. Luckily I don't have to wait a year, this time around.
There are two ways to read this book. I must say I have enjoyed both. The first is to just dive into the book and let the story take you away, the second is to pay more attention to the underlying subjects. Such as slavery and suppression and the fight for your freedom.
I couldn't stand most of the characters and the dialogue felt a bit lacking as well, but I'll probably read the next one eventually because I'm curious about the magic system.
Whenever Violet does something like this it makes me cringe. She focuses way to much on herself, no one should have ever told her she was special.
