I didn‘t connect fully with this story. The prose and atmosphere were great, but the twist was pretty easy to spot and the ending fell flat for me. Still, lots of promise. Would love to check out more of Merritt‘s stuff.

wow...ich konnte es nicht mehr aus der Hand legen..Spannung pur!!!
I was completely sucked into this gothic story and found it very creepy and unsettling. Some of the secrets were easy to figure out, others came as a surprise. I was really disappointed in the ending though. The big reveal and climax was the plot point that, to me, was obvious from the get go and the rest of the mysteries remained murky or were hastily dealt with. It‘s too bad because I thought the book was really well written in many ways.
Just hit the 67% mark in this book, and I only use this tracker for the marathons. So I‘m almost to the 7hr mark!!! #24b4monday
Also I‘m really digging this book.
Starting this one. I‘ve been on a bailing streak, with only one novel finished lately so here‘s to hoping I enjoy this one! #24B4Monday So glad I checked Litsy in time to catch this #readathon, ‘cause I‘m always missing them!
This book was super creepy and if I‘m being honest, a little hard to read alone at night! Loved the story and the romantic gothic element of this story too! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
Wow, this book was great. Thank you NetGalley for my advanced reading copy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5!
Starting my advanced reading copy of While You Sleep by Stephanie Merritt 📖
I really wanted to like this but had no interest in what happened while she slept (if you've read it, you might know what I mean)! I definitely wanted historical fiction in the same vein as Barbara Erskine but this one was just not doing it & twist was like so many other reads I've read lately.
This was quite the read. It's full of twists and turns. You really go on a journey learning about Ailsa and the house's history. I really enjoyed the story and the ending was very good. It's well written and full of drama. Zoe is quite an interesting character. It's clear she's had some rough times and I wasn't sure I liked her at the start but she soon grew on me. You really follow her emotions and the truth about her life is heart breaking.
