It Takes Two to Tumble: Seducing the Sedgwicks | Cat Sebastian

"Sebastian proves she is a new force to be reckoned with in historical romances."--BooklistSome of Ben Sedgwick's favorite things: Helping his poor parishionersBaby animalsShamelessly flirting with the handsome Captain Phillip Dacre After an unconventional upbringing, Ben is perfectly content with the quiet, predictable life of a country vicar, free of strife or turmoil. When he's asked to look after an absent naval captain's three wild children, he reluctantly agrees, but instantly falls for the hellions. And when their stern but gloriously handsome father arrives, Ben is tempted in ways that make him doubt everything. Some of Phillip Dacre's favorite things: His ship People doing precisely as they're told Touching the irresistible vicar at every opportunity Phillip can't wait to leave England's shores and be back on his ship, away from the grief that haunts him. But his children have driven off a succession of governesses and tutors and he must set things right. The unexpected presence of the cheerful, adorable vicar sets his world on its head and now he can't seem to live without Ben's winning smiles or devastating kisses. In the midst of runaway children, a plot to blackmail Ben's family, and torturous nights of pleasure, Ben and Phillip must decide if a safe life is worth losing the one thing that makes them come alive.

It is fun to read the second book after I read the 3rd earlier this year, knowing where side characters end up was interesting.
I liked this though I thought all the kids running around put a damper on things ...LoL I am not a kids person so that is my bias. But I was going to listen to this all week during my morning jogs and I started it yesterday and kept finding reasons to listen - even cleaning my bathroom! It was good.

I‘ve been reading really serious books that require my total attention. And then I read this tender M/M regency romance in one sitting last night. Sometimes a simple, sweet love story is necessary. 😘

SkeletonKey I‘ve been going back and forth between serious and romance/light stuff lately too, I need to try these ones. 4y
shanaqui Cat Sebastian is great for that -- her books always work really well as a palate cleanser for me! 4y

After reading Tender Is the Flesh, this lovely, delightful read about a vicar and a sea captain falling in love was just the thing I needed to feel a little hope again. Although this isn't my favorite of her novels, Cat Sebastian's way with words never fails to impress me.

There is just something about historical romance that really does it for me. This one is set in the 1800s and about a vicar/tutor and a captain. How scandalous.

I lost my reading mojo for a bit, but I'm back on anxiety medication and feeling the urge to read again, whoo! This was a great choice for #WifeBookClub; she's still two chapters from the end because I read faster, oops, but it's so sweet and satisfying.

I've done it! My wife is converted; she's now a romance reader! We've been reading a bunch of K.J. Charles' books together, and now we're reading this. #WifeBookClub

Read for the read a romance with a single parent challenge for #ReadHarder #challenge I enjoyed watching these characters find their way to each other and become a family. The story was sweet and it was a great way to spend a quiet Saturday while a little under the weather. Add in darling yet naughty kids, adult parents finding a little romance and tackling real issues? Sign me up!

Y‘all, this book was so sweet, I stayed up waaaay past my bedtime to finish it! For a romance author, Cat Sebastian isn‘t afraid to tackle tougher topics like religion. I only have two books left by her, any suggestions for other M/M historical romance???? #romantsy. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

bunny Have you tried KJ Charles? I think her books are similar to Sebastian's. 5y
Owlizabeth @bunny I haven‘t - I‘ll look her up! 5y

Cat Sebastian works her usual magic here, and the result is a pure delight of a book. It's got heroes who stretch their worlds for each other! Strong friendships! Interesting family dynamics! Faith contrasted with organized religion! Disability issues! Cute kids! A dog! Oldsters falling in love over pie!

I ate it up quick as I could. Next book, please. #romantsy

Beer o'clock is more fun on St Patrick's Day, especially when you've also got a great historical romance to read as you drink.

Reading Courtney Milan reminded me how much I enjoyed Cat Sebastian's first three novels, so I did a search and discovered her latest is on for $0.99. Hello, next read.

Li'l Sebastian pictured just for the hell of it. I think this one's set in the country, so there're probably horses milling around? Maybe even mini ones, for the one hero's children?

Mehso-so

Romance novels are sappy and it takes an incredible author to pull any sap from this tree. I rate books based on how much I enjoy them, so this "so-so" is not because the author is mediocre. It is because apparently I get bored regardless of the sex of the protagonists when it comes to romance. It always seems predictable to me. I think people who generally like romance novels would probably like it and I appreciated the message of equality.

“He knew in his heart that he could tell him everything, anything and it would be fine. He was safe. His heart was safe, or as safe as it ever would be.” Delightful story low on conflict between the heroes. Lots of external conflict regarding conscience, doing the right things, reconciling vocation with who you are. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #regency #romantsy

Cat Sebastian has done it again. Loved this one. 😍

And, oddly, not the first historical romance I've read recently with a dyslexic character.

Hope the proper title gets updated in Litsy soon.

Anyway, this book is amazing! I loved the story, and the romance, and just about everything about it. I'm so pleased she has more books that I can binge!

All my thanks to @balletbookworm for the review that made me pick it up!!

Cat Sebastian has become an instant buy author for me! And this is her sweetest romance so far! An unconventional and earnest vicar, meets a haunted naval captain whose children he has been looking after. Having already had his heart stolen by Captain Phillip Dacre‘s children, it‘s a short trip for the vicar, Ben Sedgwick, to fall for their darkly handsome father. Stolen kisses, heated glances, and rampaging children, what more could you want?

llwheeler Omg I didn't know this was out! I know the first thing i'm getting with any gift card i get over the holidays!! 7y

This is a charming m/m Regency loosely based off the Maria/Captain von Trapp relationship in The Sound of Music (no Nazis or whistles, thankfully). Ben is the cheerful, dedicated-to-the-parish vicar and Philip is a stern sea captain returning to his home after two years (his wife has died while he was away and his three children are running wild). Their story is sweet and loving (and I think Ben looks like James Norton from Grantchester).

balletbookworm (Recommendation posted here, bc It Takes Two to Tumble is out today (!) and I can‘t find it in Litsy, even by ISBN, but it‘s adorable and you know you want to read it) 7y
