American Vampire Vol. 5
American Vampire Vol. 5 | Scott Snyder
6 posts | 12 read | 5 to read
A New York Times best seller! In the first story, series mainstays Skinner Sweet, Pearl and company return to Hollywood in the '50s during the Red Scare. In a time where America was on the lookout for the next Communist threat, was the real danger something far more insidious? A major turning point in AMERICAN VAMPIRE lore begins here! In the second tale, familiar face and vampire hunter Felicia Book is "retired" from vampire hunting when she gets called back into action to track down and kill the most powerful vampire of all time. The hunt takes our heroes through post-war Europe, behind the Iron Curtain and into the heart of Russia to track this deadly enemy... Writer Scott Snyder (BATMAN, SWAMP THING) and artist Rafael Albuquerque bring together even more threads to the complex tapestry that is the world of AMERICAN VAMPIRE.

Dang, I did not expect the conclusion of the original arc to hit me in the feels like that! I read the first three volumes of American Vampire years ago, and finally decided to go back and read the series the whole way through. I've heard mixed things about the “Second Cycle,“ but this original run is full of brilliant writing and amazing art!

vivastory I really love this series 6mo
Jess I need to revisit this series. It is hands down one of my favs but haven‘t read it in years. 6mo

Twist after twist after twist. What a roller coaster this volume was! Definitely made up for how much the series had slowed down. As I get closer to the end, I‘m not at all ready for it to be over. On to volume 6! #comic #graphicnovel

My favorite story was Skinner and Pearl hunting vampires in 1950 Hollywood. I loved the parallel of the Communist Red Scare in Hollywood with the Hollywood moguls giving shelter to vampires.

The second story about hunting the master vampire in Europe was also good. My favorite part was the “Renfield” he was a great character.

I included the baboon because I find him menacing 😄

dragondrool Nice baboon! 6y
