I would use this book to teach poetry and important themes of life.

Poetry - Published in 2007. This book is full of Maya Angelou's poems about topics such as identity, resilience, and love. Her language and imagery makes it relatable and impactful for younger audiences.

For my daughter's 8th birthday she asked for books of poetry and books about art. I found this Poetry For Young People series. I picked Maya Angelou for her first one. There are beautiful illustrations through out the book. Also, each poem has a small description of what it is about and there are definitions at the bottom of the page for more complicated words. I plan on getting the rest in the series.
