Assassinistas #2
Assassinistas #2 | Tini Howard
1 post
Pregnant Pauses and Campout Makeouts Dominic Price is a college-age cutie pie who just wants to spend the semester making out with his boyfriend, Taylor, in between rounds of TurboLight Fighter and maintaining a solidly passable 3.2 GPA. His mom, Octavia, formerly a badass action-movie-quality bounty hunter, didnt pay his tuition, because she had to get back in the business and spend 40K on black market weapons and body armor And shes bringing Dominic with her, because the alternative is making lattes for a semester, and hed rather die. Good thing in moms line of work, dying is an option!

COMICS PULL Jan 17 #comicsrecs #ncbd
I got off work early today because of the snow and still didn‘t manage to get this posted before midnight. Here are some comics to look for tomorrow. Assassimistas is my #recoftheweek but over all it was a pretty underwhelming week for books I read.
👇individual ratings and notes in the comments👇

nosferatoos 🙌Assassinistas 2: I am really digging IDW‘s Black Crown line. A college boy and his boyfriend get sucked into his mother‘s life as a retired assassin. The target audience of this book is Me Specifically and I absolutely love it so far. (edited) 7y
nosferatoos 👋Avengers 676: Its fine. I still think the big ~twist~ is dumb but I‘m hoping it pays off in some unexpected way. Mediocrity aside, this book wins for best cover of the week. (edited) 7y
nosferatoos 👋Batwoman 11: I love this series but this is a fill in issue not written by Bennett. It still builds on her story but it‘s definitely a transitional issue and it definitely feels like it. It‘s got a sick Sienkiewicz tho. (edited) 7y

nosferatoos 👋Damage 1: if you‘ve ever thought to yourself “man I wish DC would write Value Brand Marvel Comics” then this is the book for you. Damage is literally just a grittier Hulk. It‘s okay but I‘m still not sure if it‘s enough to make me pick up the second issue. The whole post-metal line is super 90s and not really my thing. (edited) 7y
nosferatoos 👍Doctor Strange 384: I love this ark. This has been consistently one of Marvel‘s best books. Donny Cates takes a lot of cues from Jason Aaron in his writing in general and plays with a lot of the same themes. So having him follow Aaron‘s fantastic run feels so natural. Fingers crossed he takes over Thor when Aaron leaves. Cates is an amazing talent and I hope Marvel keeps him. And the art in this book is SO GOOD btw. 7y
nosferatoos 👋Spirits of Vengeance 4: it‘s fine. The whole series has been fine. I bought this for blade and he‘s barely in it. 7y
nosferatoos 👍Super Sons 11: wraps up the Super Sons of Tomorrow crossover very neatly. I love the Damien/Jon dynamic and it takes a really great turn here. Patrick Gleason has such a good grasp on the voices of these characters and I love it. It‘s also fun to get some Teen Titans in a book without having to read the current Teen Titans book (because it‘s not very good). (edited) 7y
rekahlee @nosferatoos Is Super Sons aimed towards a younger audience? I‘ve been on the fence of adding it cause I like my comics fairly serious. I enjoy humor and banter but I need a more dramatic story at the center 7y
nosferatoos @RekahLee It‘s targeted to the same age range as N52 batgirl. It‘s fine for kids but it‘s now a Kids Comic The was DC‘s Teen Titans Go is. I wouldn‘t call it serious but it‘s not really a kids comic. It‘s a really charming and delightful book. (edited) 7y
