My book haul from today.
Labor day weekend reading
Some #nakedhardcovers from my library shelves.

This is more than a collection of writings-- there's full color art throughout as well, which makes this a lovely book to own (and it supports the ACLU). some of the writing felt rushed, but there's some fine writing here as well. it's a mix of essay and fiction. even though some stories were meh, the art and the ACLU support make this book a "buy". Not the greatest picture but it's 6:30am, cut me some slack ?
Sloooooowly creeping my way through this collection. Some hits, some misses. It feels rushed.
I absolutely loved this collection! Many well known authors and artists contributed art, stories, and essays of their response to 45‘s election and Trumpism. Each interpretation is a little different and I don‘t think there‘s a weak piece in the bunch. It works well on audio and I think it would be great in print, too. All proceeds go to the ACLU.
This looked like a good idea to take home from library and then I promptly hit Olympic fever and forgot about it until now
Patriotic, diverse, celebrated writers & artists anthologized with proceeds going to the ACLU. A worthwhile cause with stand-out submissions from Ha Jin, Mark Di Ionno, Julia Alvarez, Louise Erdrich, Bliss Broyard; meaty dystopia from Joyce Carol Oates and Sarah Paretsky, and a forward from Viet Thanh Nguyen that's worth the price of admission. Longer review on my blog, mccrystle.blogspot.com if interested.
Got my copy today, with a donation made to the ACLU.
I grabbed this one on a whim. Look at all the great authors who wrote essays for it! What I was not aware of, until the intro, is all proceeds from the book sales go to the ACLU. So, those of you in a #resist mood, here is a book for you!
Great contributors. Great cause. Important moment. Publisher S&S Touchstone is currently donating $3 to the ACLU for each purchased copy —digital, hardcover, or audio. I got mine on Kindle. Here‘s the link: http://iamamericabook.com/ #FirstAmendment #LitMatters
