#OnThisDay in 1010 the Iranian epic poem Shahnameh was completed and published by Ferdowsi. Translated as the Book of Kings, Shanameh tells the mythological story of the Persian Empire, from the creation of the world to the Muslim conquest. With 50,000 rhyming couplets it is the longest poem ever written by a single author and is credited with (possibly) saving the Persian language. #HistoryGetsLIT
