The Company of Demons
The Company of Demons | Michael Jordan
4 posts | 5 read | 10 to read
The brutal murder of a friend leaves lawyer John Coleman stunned and sends shockwaves through the city of Cleveland. The technique of the killing recalls memories of the Torso Murderer, who dismembered at least twelve people decades ago and then vanishedeluding even legendary crime fighter Eliot Ness. Jennifer, the victims beautiful daughter, hires John to handle her fathers estate, and romantic feelings for her soon complicate his already troubled marriage. When John finds himself entangled with a cold-blooded biker gang, an ex-cop with a fuzzy past, and the drug-addicted son of the dead man, he struggles to make sense of it all. ?But he cannot shake a growing sense of dread.

This is a solid debut for Mr. Jordan. The way he intertwined fact with fiction was interesting. The "Torso Murderer" who killed several people in the Cleveland in the 40's who alluded capture from Elliot Ness. On to the fictional character "The Butcher”. Attorney John Coleman, is familiar with “The Butcher” his father was the lead detective on the case. Now almost 60yrs later he‘s up against “The Butcher” or copycat. Is History repeating itself?

I won this ARC from Bookish First and loved it! Based on historical events, it bring to life a serial killer like no other and a flawed lawyer with a troubled marriage determined to avenge the murder of a friend while keeping his own secrets buried. Not for the faint of heart as it‘s gruesome, dark, and edgy. I‘ll host a giveaway and mail to a random winner if you tell me your favorite thriller this year!

TricksyTails Sounds interesting! 7y
TricksyTails My favorite this year is the Bill Hodges Trilogy. Although my current read just might end up being right up there. Serial killer with a snarky sense of humor. 7y
Crystalblu The Shining was my favorite thriller this year! I can't believe that I waited so long to read it! 7y

I was a long way into this book before it grabbed me and I almost gave up on it but I‘m glad I didn‘t as once I got into it I couldn‘t put it down. I love gruesome scary books but there‘s was a few chapters that had my stomach churning, so good! Slow start but in the end it was a roller coaster!
