Our next recipient of a Kris book award for 2017 is this Enid Blyton book. It wins the “What the hell is every single book I read as a child actually racist and how on earth is this picture of a golliwog actually in this book from my childhood” award. #thekrisbookawards2017

This was my book when I was little, and I was feeling nostalgic so I reread it. I lived in England when I was ages 5 to 7, and I read A LOT of Enid Blyton. Some of it does not stand the test of time (wtf gollywogs?!), but then I reread the story about the fairy borrowing the little girl‘s stove and I was transported back in time. I can‘t even tell you how many times I read that story as a kid. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for nostalgic happiness. #throwbackreadathon

tournevis My friend Jo calls it the Suck Fairy. It flies over old beloved books and makes them suck in the years between readings. 7y
