This is a very simple book for young children about a girl who has truly never made a mistake, and everyone knows it!

But what happens when the day comes that she inevitably does make a mistake?

This is a cute picture book that I would recommend to remind children it is okay to make mistakes!

PatienceFortitude Another great picture book on the theme of making messes and letting go of being perfect 5y
Maggie_Reads I need to get this book for my 7 year old daughter. She gets so upset when she messes up. 5y
KristenDuck @Maggie_Reads this is perfect for her! 5y

I had a teeny weeny bit of a problem with this one. First, it's how a person not making a mistake is celebrated, with paparazzi awaiting her outside her house everyday. And nobody knows her name except for her moniker (the title of the book).

Second, mistakes that her brother made - dancing with hands, playing the piano with his feet aren't mistakes! Even drawing with green beans!

Jeannineth I read a lot of children books for my work and some of them can be borderline offensive. I haven‘t read this one but thanks for the heads up. 5y
Jee_HookedOnBookz @Jeannineth you're so welcome! I love children's books too! Collect them even 😅 Don't think I'd be reading this book to my girl. I didn't like the message one bit. 5y
LibrarianRyan Yeah. That happens. 5y

A gentle reminder that it is OK to make mistakes. Maya has a perfectionist streak, and we‘ve worked hard with her to accept mistakes as opportunities for growth. I like some other kid‘s books on the topic more than this one, but this was okay. I wasn‘t a fan of the illustrations.

Jee_HookedOnBookz I just read this book too! 😁 5y

RF book about a young girl who never makes mistakes. She is constantly worried about messing up. One day she finds out what it is like to make a mistake. I would use this as a RA to encourage students to not be afraid to try. It would help improve classroom culture. They could write about a time when they made a mistake. #UCFSU19

Lindseyraepalmx I will definitely have to read this book. I think this would be a great book to have in the classroom library. 6y

The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes is a RF book by Mark Pett and
Gary Rubinstein & illustrated by Mark Pett. TS is a S. It is about a girl
named Beatrice who has never made a mistake in her life! There is a
talent show at her school and she is going to perform a juggling act
with a water balloon, her hamster, and a salt shaker. There is just
one problem… she realizes that it is not salt but black pepper in the
shaker. This causes her hamster to

JocelynNolton sneeze and the entire juggling act
is ruined. Unsure of what to do or how to feel about her first
mistake, she begins to laugh it off and from that day on she no longer
worried about being perfect all of the time. I enjoyed the message
behind this book because even as adults sometimes we take life too
seriously. It‘s ok to make mistakes, we‘re human! The UDL principle
9.2- facilitate personal coping skills and strategies & EL 3-
encourage self-talk (positive thinking) could apply to this book. This
is a link to some H.O.T. questions & activities that are targeted for
different grade levels. I thought this was a great resource to use
with the book.
