As someone with a music degree who's taught classical music for over a decade, this book is driving me crazy. (The number of bars will vary depending on the tempo of each movement and complexity of the thematic material.)
DitrieMarieBowie You follow the themes and structure not a set number of measures the way writers do with books. If anything, composers aim for time limits (5 minutes, 15 minutes, etc.) not number of measures. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Hahaha! Don't you hate when I book concentrates on something, but doesn't do it's research! 8y
DitrieMarieBowie @Riveted_Reader_Melissa it seems like he drew on his experience from piano lessons and playing cello. Some of what he references makes sense, but some of it is based on not-fully-informed assumptions based on limited experience. It's one of my biggest fears as a writer, which I guess is why I'm so hard on it when I see it elsewhere. 8y
Megabooks That's frustrating. I hate it when medical stuff is wrong in books. For example, The Mothers talks about titanium implants setting off metal detectors. They don't. 8y
