Soulful Simplicity
Soulful Simplicity: How Living with Less Can Lead to So Much More | Courtney Carver
16 posts | 15 read | 19 to read
Courtney Carver shows us the power of simplicity to improve our health, build more meaningful relationships, and relieve stress in our professional and personal lives. We are often on a quest for morewe give in to pressure every day to work more, own more, and do more. For Carver, this constant striving had to come to a stop when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Stress was like gasoline on the fire of symptoms, and it became clear that she needed to root out the physical and psychological clutter that were the source of her debt and discontent. In this book, she shows us how to pursue practical minimalism so we can create more with lessmore space, more time, and even more love. Carver invites us to look at the big picture, discover what's most important to us, and reclaim lightness and ease by getting rid of all the excess things.

I finished my august #bookspin but not the double spin. 4 books read 2 dnf‘d. The rest might get switched around for September because of library holds:) The book is amazing as is her Simplicity Space Community. I joined and so far it‘s completely worth it!

Between reading Soulful Simplicity (tagged book) and watching Home Town, I got inspired to take this tote bag from the most wonderful bookshop in Paris and turn it into a little throw pillow.
I wasn't using it as a tote ~ It was in a closet not seen by anyone ~ I in no way wanted to part with it.
Now, when I curl up in the hammock, I'll have it to rest my book on to read. Creativity for the win, I think. 🤓

A suitable tag for my tea this morning. I hope we're all learning to enjoy the simplicity a little more. Stay healthy, #littens.

Velvetfur 1) cool mug! 2) what tea is that? I know Yogi Tea has little bits of wisdom on the tag like that 😊 5y
goodbyefrancie @Velvetfur It is Yogi tea. The tangerine is my favorite. 5y
Velvetfur @goodbyefrancie Ah thanks, now I'm inspired to get more Yogi Tea! 😊 5y

Overall a good read..loved the short chapters. Lots to chew on..excited to start simplifying more in my life. Struggled a bit towards the end of the book...it felt like some of the content had already been visited?

I am not one for the self help genre but something told me to listen to this book and I was glad I did. Carver doesn't lecture or preach, doesn't pretend to be the expert or perfect; in fact she references many other who have experience in this area and shares her story as just one of many examples.
She reaffirmed some things I have been learning and slowly putting into practice over years. I'm more excited now about my own personal journey.

I'm not one for self help books at all, but with an imminent move to a smaller space and me confronting letting go of a lot of things (not just objects), I figured maybe I'd take a chance on this book. Only 6 hours. After the first hour, I'm at least enjoying the author's personality.

DocBrown This is a great photo 💙 6y

DocBrown If you don‘t mind my saying so, I think everything in and about this photo is perfect. Every time it shows up in my feed it makes me smile 😊 6y
Andrea4 @mdhughes72 oh wow, thank you. That's quite a compliment. ☺ 6y

I really enjoyed the way Carver shared her experiences in this book. I‘ve read many books on the subjects of decluttering and minimalism, so there was nothing particularly new here for me except the way Carver has personally created a life of less stuff. I thought her writing and her advice was calm, practical, and joyful.

Getting some reading time in while waiting at the tire store. Books make errands like these almost pleasurable.
