Welcome to Litsy!

Well, this novel does indeed contain revelations which I dare not spoil! It is dated, but I can‘t help think it was in ways progressive for 1967. The female MC doesn‘t seem to take charge of her own destiny, BUT, there are other aspects of this complicated love story I appreciated. I am left feeling a bit melancholic for the two principle characters.

I wish this had been part of a Litsy buddy read to discuss - lots of fodder!

I am so easily seduced by beautiful covers, so when I saw @Tamra ‘s post about the Smith books, it wasn‘t long before I found myself clicking the purchase button. To make matters worse (or better…), a slew of Gibbons books with gorgeous covers were recommended, so why not one more? I‘m looking forward to the day that I cozy up with a hot cup of tea and one of these beauties. #bookmail #blameitonLitsy

This was an interesting read in that it was quite a dated concept and thinking. That said, while some would not enjoy it because of the passive female protagonist and her thinking, as well as that of the male characters, I enjoyed it for a different outlook that was prevalent earlier in our century. It definitely got me thinking about many issues pertaining to feminism and where these subjects have led in modern times.
