This is a great history book story to read to young children. This book is set up in five chapters so if used in a primary classroom, it may be best to read over the span of a few days. Overall, it's a great story of the pilgrims travels to first arriving and their journeys leading up to the first thanksgiving.

This book is a great historical fiction book because it correctly uses facts from the Native American culture and also has an authors note in the back of the book.

I would use this book right before Thanksgiving because it tells the story of the first thanksgiving. This would be a great book paired with other activities such as a booklet project or making turkey hands.
