The Satanic Mechanic: A Tannie Maria Mystery | 
so-soOh, please read the first book in the series, or you may not care enough to make it through this one. While there was a murder or two to solve, the bulk of the book focuses on character development. Tannie Maria, as it turns out, is not a Mary Poppins cook that can cure whatever ails you...she is suffering from PTSD, and food is her escape. The author seems set on revealing the darker, human elements of the characters...for better or worse.
pickThere is just something about Tannie Maria that makes me feel like she could be my friend. I love how she eats with abandon and thinks that food is going to solve everyone‘s problems. There are recipes at the end of this story but I can‘t vouch for them. Maybe the next book in the series will bring the relationship of Tannie Maria and Detective Lieutenant Hank Kannemyer to more solid ground as they work through their issues.
