#7Books7Days Day 7 of books that made an impact@on me. Baja California is a favorite getaway, esp the East Cape on the Gulf of CA. I took this book along on our Jan 2017 vacation and it captured my mindset perfectly, 50 plus years later. Steinbeck was embarking on a Baja trip on the eve of WWII. My trip was during the first month of Trump‘s presidency when I was mourning and feeling very worried for my country and all@the values dear to me.
One of my favorite traditions is that I read John Steinbeck every November. This is the first time I‘ve come across this one but I‘m liking it so far.
pickSteinbeck will continue to be my favorite. There's a few spots where the tide pool animal description gets a little dry but everything else is lovely. The addendum about Ed Ricketts is tragic and adds a lot to the world of Monterey Steinbeck loved to write about.
