After visiting the the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, I found this #audiobook on #Hoopla. The first 3 chapters were ok, but they didn‘t demand my attention. Chapter 4 about Isabella Stewart Gardner was my main reason for listening, and it was fascinating. Some of the information was repetition of what I had learned in Boston, but it described other aspects of her life as well. The photos are from my visit to the museum.

Kind of a strange mix of art, biography and society in the Gilded Age. None of the women highlighted is very well known with the exception of Isabella Stewart Gardner, but I found them all interesting in the world they inhabited. I also admire a lot of Sargent's art so it was a win-win for me!
#TBRtemptation post 1! Recently released. With letters and diary entries, Lucey illuminates 4 women painted by the iconic portraitist. Elsie Palmer lived among an artistic community. Commanding Sally Fairchild watched her sister become a bohemian. Saintly Elizabeth Chandler had an affair with her best friend's husband. Isabella Gardner scandalized Bostonian society. Truly an eclectic multi-faceted biographical work! #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
