Made in India: Cooked in Britain: Recipes from an Indian Family Kitchen | Meera Sodha
5 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
MADE IN INDIA: the top ten bestselling Indian cookbook that will change the way you cook, eat, and think about Indian food, forever. **Look out for FRESH INDIA, Meera Sodha's new cookbook** Real Indian food is fresh, simple and packed with flavour and in MADE IN INDIA, Meera Sodha introduces Britain to the food she grew up eating here every day. Unlike the stuff you get at your local curry house, her food is fresh, vibrant and surprisingly quick and easy to make. In this collection, Meera serves up a feast of over 130 delicious recipes collected from three generations of her family: there's everything from hot chappatis to street food (chilli paneer and beetroot and feta samosas), fragrant curries (spinach and salmon or perfect cinnamon lamb curry), to colourful side dishes (pomegranate and mint raita, kachumbar salad), and mouth-watering puddings (mango, lime and passion fruit jelly and pistachio and saffron kulfi). 'This book is full of real charm, personality, love and garlic. The best Indian food is cooked (and eaten) at home' Yotam Ottolenghi 'Wonderful, vibrant...deeply personal food, alive and authentic - the best sort - and, frankly, I want to cook everything in this book' Nigella Lawson

Oh so spot on! Completely satisfied my curry lust. I will add a note to include a dollop of plain yogurt & cilantro. #Mtcookbook

JamieArc I may have taken a screenshot of this post so I could zoom in and look at the recipe 🧐. I should see if my library has this cookbook though! 6mo
Tamra @JamieArc yes! Do check it out to see if you might like it. 6mo
mabell For me, yogurt is an obligatory curry accompaniment 😆 5mo

I LOVE the chilli paneer from this book!

It is fairly quick to prep and cook.
And I have started off tomorrows tea from the Dishoom cookbook (chole). It will be a good food week!

Chicken Tikka is for dinner tonight. 😋 I might get ambitious and even make naan. Maybe........

My serving won‘t be as pretty as everything in & about this book.

LeahBergen Yum! 4y
Cathythoughts Love this ! We get Indian takeaway once a week ... Well done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 4y
Susanita There‘s an Indian-Italian restaurant near me. (It was an Italian restaurant for years, then I think an Indian family bought it.) They serve both cuisines, plus a couple fusion dishes. The chicken tikka pizza is delicious! 4y

Well, sadly both of my favorite indies were not open for browsing. I couldn‘t NOT buy a book when that was one of the goals of our trip so I ended up at B&N.

Not pictured is the #3 Little Sister Babysitters Club graphic novel. I never say no to kids when it comes to books. 🙃

I love the tagged book! It‘s vibrant, recipes are accessible, and Sodha‘s family story is tale of resilience.

I have a NEED to add it to my collection, but I‘m exercising restraint for the sake of frugality. I can‘t just buy whatever I want - can I? I think I‘ll leave it as a reward for completing my next grad class (the one I‘m procrastinating on registering for bc my life will not be my own.)

I also like the Homestead book quite a bit too.

BarbaraBB This book is awesome! So many great recipes! 4y
