Got to almost 60% of this fourth installment in the #BookTown #CozyMystery series and decided I‘ve had enough of this series, which is a shame, since my library has ten more of the audiobooks… but I really don‘t like ANY of the characters and whatever charm the setting has for me has long faded. Plus, the protagonist speculated whether the rumors that someone is a “dyke” are true (and decides it doesn‘t matter to her, but still!). Not worth it.

I like the mysteries in this series.. and some of the side-characters are great... I'm actually quite a fan of Bob Kelly. But I'll have to agree w many other reviewers that Trisha is a bit of a downer... even when she's doing good things for others, it's often begrudging or selfish or weirdly motivated. And she's just not a very pleasant person -- very Judgy. Very. But I really do like listening to the series on audio, and I'll keep going..⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good writing. Fine mystery. Likeable secondary characters. But the protagonist of this series is so tiresome that she detracts from all the good things about it.

On Mondays I bring out my Marauder's Map cup (it'll fit 2 full cups of coffee 😁).

Well, I think this will be the last Booktown Mystery that I will read/listen to for a while. Honestly, Tricia got on my nerves with this one. I outlined a bunch of gripes about the story in my GR review. This was going to be a 2 star rating for me, but the end proved entertaining and finished the story in a satisfying manner. 3/5 ⭐️ it is.

Not only are the books great, but the author is amazing as well. She even sends out postcards and bookmarks to her fans, who are on her mailing list! 😃
