Book #23
5/5
This is a short collection (3 stories), one of which was also in L&K : The Golden Age. It's my favourite Locke & Key story, and is called Open the Moon. When I first read it, I almost didn't get far - a young boy with epilepsy, having seizures. I generally avoid epilepsy in books and on television for several reasons - it's just too close to my reality (my son has a severe form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome).
I found this at random in the library (book not the baby ?) and was super excited because I had no idea it existed. Well, I was fine without it in my life. Really these stories added nothing to the understanding of the house nor did they provide that much background "colour"- could the third even be considered a story?
I liked the short stories – the first one was the best one, in my opinion. The photos weren‘t as interesting, but were ok and the book finished off with full page illustrations of the children in the series with other things in the background (the back of the book tells me these are additional covers). Overall, I‘m rating it ok
This was a nice addition to the series. Even though the stories are only loosely connected to the main storyline, they all touch on important aspects of it. It definitely made me want to revisit the series.
Well this was okay. The stories were heart-wrenching, gory, and silly, respectively. It doesn‘t really add to the overall storyline of the main series, but it was fun. Super short and super quick. The images at the end of the volume, with the creators, were probably the coolest.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
We have a bit of a snow storm happening, so it‘s a perfect night to get some reading done!! Because I don‘t want this series to end, I grabbed the ‘side stories‘ volume!
This quick graphic novel was a short and sweet trip back to Lovecraft. The first story was very sweet, the second was very graphic but had a nice twist, and the third was too short and didn't make much sense. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the authors at the end of the book, although it was mostly filler. Overall, I'd give this 3⭐️- worth reading if you are a fan of the Locke and Key series but not a lot of substance here. #joehill #graphicnovel
20 minutes till midnight in my country and I think I'll start with a graphic novel!

The first story in this book, Open the Moon, is just gorgeous. The other two are fine. I also loved the photo essay showing the authors in the places Lovecraft, Massachusetts, was based on.
