Thank you so much, @RachelO !! The book is beautiful and I am so delighted at the postcard! ❤️
I struggled through the first 3/4 of this, and considered bailing several times. The writing is so beautifully wordy, it almost feels like you have to fight through it to reach the characters. Which, given it's a story of silence, non-communication and isolation, is probably the point. The storytelling did come together at the end (I'm glad I finished it!) but by then I'd already parted ways with the characters. Sadly, it didn't quite work for me.
@rachelo is hosting a giveaway, check out the original post for more info. In between reading The Hate U Give, Doctor Sleep and the Shining, I decided to read a lighter and short novel by Humayun Ahmed, a legendary Bengali author. The book was of 100 pages and was named "Rodon bhora ei Boshonto", which means "Spring full of sunshine". This was a romantic novel and a tearjerker. I'd love to get a chance to win Oliver Loving.

Started off really well, good storyline, nice writing. Then just became really boring about half way through and I didn‘t really care what was happening or about any of the characters.
I still love the cover.
Quick lunchtime read 😁
Work is pretty bonkers at the moment so I‘m even more determined to at least get 20 mins for lunch....
Liking this one so far!
I wanted to love this book and the writing was quite beautiful...but it just felt a little off. I think maybe the characters were spread a little to thin.
Planning on spending this cold wet Sunday with this beauty. I think I might need some tissues.
I received this book from a Goodreads Giveaway. The writing is lyrical and Block plays with the narrative, jumping between time lines and viewpoints. While I admire Block‘s skill with words, I have to say that the dreamy and lyrical writing prevented me from really connecting with the characters. For a book that‘s about the emotional impact of gun violence, the distance meant it just lacked that punch factor for me.

Always helps 😁😁 The tagged one I won from Readers First, love Lisa Gardner and DD Warren character and the others via #blameitonlitsy
You're all a bad influence! I've managed to avoid ARCs up until now, but a couple of weeks ago I succumbed to the wonder that is #readersfirst. This rather lovely looking thing arrived in the post this morning. Might have to abandon my other squillion books to start it! #reallybadidea
1. A gun related tragedy leaves a family shattered and a town struggling with “why?”. Complicating the matter is the fact that the only person with the answers may be stuck in his own mind.
2. Starbursts or Matcha Kit Kat
3. Millennial
4. Innisfree hand cream
5. A library visit on Saturday before work, and then some reading to avoid the Super Bowl madness 🤪

Meeting the hubs in Raleigh this weekend and he brought me another book ☺️
I wasn't in love with this one. It was just a bit too over written for my taste. But I did appreciate the back story to some of the characters.
Thank you to @flatironbooks for this gorgeous hardcover! I haven‘t had the chance to open it yet since my cats have decided to give their seal of approval by sleeping on it. But it‘s going to be read... as soon as I can get it back. #catsoflitsy #bookmail
