‘A Haven on Orchard Lane‘ by Lawana Blackwell, caught my eye, whilst perusing the local library shelves. Set in Victorian times, the book follows a former stage actress, Charlotte Ward. Facing desperate circumstances, Charlotte‘s estranged daughter, Rosalind, comes to her mother‘s rescue, whisking her away to a cottage in a quiet coastal village. I‘ve read that this book is part Gaskell, part Lark Rise to Candleford. Both of which, I adore!
Spending my evening in a book wonderland reading about performers in London. A great read so far. I‘m also keeping my mother company while she cooks dinner. ☺️
I received this book for free through LibraryThing‘s Member Giveaways.
I typically don‘t read Christian fiction but I still enjoyed this book. It was a fairly simple story but the setting made up for it. I‘m a sucker for cute little English villages.
