A nostalgic pick for me. I loved Stewart when I was a young teen, so it was the perfect book for a stressful month.

Rereading THORNYHOLD reminded me how much I want to dig into Mary Stewart, and there was no reason my TBR-free self couldn‘t start right away. I sure hope ROSE COTTAGE works for me. THORNYHOLD‘s great, but I only liked TOUCH NOT THE CAT and the first chunk of THE GABRIEL HOUNDS bored me silly. I feel like Stewart could be one of those consistently hit-or-miss authors for me.
Couldn't really figure out what new thing I wanted to start, so thought I might revisit this. Turns out, it's exactly what I needed this afternoon.
A mostly lovely cozy mystery with a hint of romance. Like other Mary Stewart books I‘ve read recently, this book goes down to a So-So for the dated way “Gypsies” (the Romani) are discussed.
