Because our life just wasn‘t complicated enough, this is Dash, our rescue cat. He was dumped by an expat (a**hole) but since we‘ve failed to find a home for him, he‘s come home tonight. Integrating adult cats can be a tricky thing so they are completely segregated at the moment but Puff knows he‘s there and she is NOT amused. It is going to be a long, long road. Cross everything for sibling bonding at some point in the near future! #catsofLitsy
AmyG Good luck. I hope your cats surprise you. 9 years ago we brought in a semi-feral cat (she liked peoole). We were so clueless. It was crazy for a bit but she is now such a sweetheart. 🤞🏻 7y
GlassAsDiamonds @AmyG if you have ANY pointers, I will take them!!! I‘m polling all my other rescuer friends and contacts but ALL advice is welcomed! (Puff was my first rescue & she was a bottle baby but... not knowing anyone with cats at the time or that it was important, she was socialized with dogs....). 7y
AmyG I wish I had some...we had no clue what we were doing and just let them exist. We had a 19 year old cat...and they hated each other, but no fighting. They would walk by each other and hiss. We just let them be. A year later the old cat died and the new cat was happy as can be. ;) (edited) 7y

GlassAsDiamonds @AmyG 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ see, this is how Puff ended up socialized with dogs!!! We‘ll get him healthy and if they still hate each other after the next few months, will double down on finding him a forever home. 7y
Tamra My bet is they‘ll work it out and tolerate one another. 🤞🏾 (edited) 7y
LiteraryinPA I few things that helped when we introduced a new cat into our family were having an increasing number of short, supervised meetings between the old cats and the new one (stopping them if any of them were getting upset or hissing) and swapping blankets with their scents on them. Good luck! 7y
rubyslippersreads What a handsome boy, and what a wonderful thing you're doing. I don't have any tips (except maybe read Jackson Galaxy's books???), but good luck! 😸❤️ 7y
OrangeMooseReads When we introduced the 3 year old cats to the 16 year old cat he was not amused. He let the girls know that was his house but he would allow them to stay but they were NOT to be in his areas or try to get the good sun spots. If they did he gently let them know it was time to move. He passed a couple years later so now the girls have divided up his duties and areas. 7y
GlassAsDiamonds @LiteraryinLititz good ideas, thanks! They‘re going to stay completely segregated until Puff calms down but those will all help after that! 😊 @rubyslippersreads also thanks! Started checking those out tonight, we‘re currently information vacuums because we want this to work so badly!! @OrangeMooseReads these two are three and somewhere around one-ish (Dash has been dumped twice already 😭😭😭) so we‘re going “Love or bust”! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 😊 7y
