#heatofJuly Eminem pays respect to his fallen comrades in the song #ToySoldiers equating East Coast/West Coast War has nothing more than record labels looking for publicity and using rappers as pawns.

BarbaraBB Eminem‘s lyrics are always the best! 6y
Cinfhen True @BarbaraBB he‘s a genius 6y
julesG @BarbaraBB - true! Iike his songs. Even got a lot of my students interested, once their level of English was up to par. 6y

Cinfhen That‘s a great way to engage students @julesG 👍🏻😁🎵 6y
julesG @Cinfhen I used to start new classes with 'My Name Is' - - - most of the students were probably surprised I listened to this music. You know, not exactly being part of the target group etc. 6y
Smartypants @Cinfhen @julesG fellow hip hop lover here, I used to say the west has good beats and the east has great lyrics until #2pac hit the scene. When I moved to the south in my late teenage years, southern rap intrigued me because #outkast and #getoboys didn‘t fit in with the east vs west battle. 6y
Cinfhen Love #2pac 💔and #OutKast really changed the rap / hip~hop scene @Smartypants (edited) 6y
emilyhaldi If you're into the hip hop scene, especially early 90's west coast rap (and even if you're not so much) The Defiant Ones is an intriguing documentary on Netflix!!! Jimmy Iovene is a genius 🎚🎛🎙🎤 ps. @Smartypants I went to school in New Orleans and LOVE southern rap!! 💜💛💚 6y
Cinfhen My son watched that Netflix doc & told me I NEEDED to see it. I‘m gonna add it to my list. Thanks @emilyhaldi for the reminder 6y
Smartypants @emilyhaldi then you must be ‘Bout it, ‘Bout it! Gosh, that takes me back to my college years. Lol 6y
mrp27 @emilyhaldi Ohh that sounds good, I'm going to have to watch. Not a super huge hip hop/rap fan today but I grew up in the late 80's early 90's in the shadows of LA and gangster rap. Was a fan back in the day. 6y
