Getting out today for #LitsyWalkers was a struggle, but I did it! 👟 I felt run down and achey (think I‘m getting a cold), upon waking. The temp. dipped during the night, & it‘s been grey & foggy with the threat of snow all day. But, I was determined to not miss a day! So, I bundled up, put in headphones & got out there. It was crisp & spitting snow half way through, but I absolutely enjoyed myself & the chapters I listened to in the tagged book.

Kaye Great job Cate. I admire your determination to stick with it no matter what. Hope you don‘t wake up with a cold tomorrow. 6y
catebutler @kaye Thanks Julie! Your get up and go attitude is very inspiring as well as your words the other day, about missing one day, makes it easier to miss more. I‘m on a regiment of tea with lemon, Emergen-C and echinacea, so hopefully I won‘t get sick. 6y
Kaye Check in if you‘re not feeling well. I wouldn‘t want you to try going out if you feel bad especially with bad weather too. 6y

I love how we get the most beautiful blue skies after snowstorms. My walk today was chilly (25°F), but the sun was shining, and the snow sparkled like diamonds. I‘m more of a podcast than audiobook listener, but I found the tagged book on PRIME, and the synopsis sounded intriguing, so far so good! I‘m so happy the weather was nice today, my walk was just what I needed after being cooped up over the weekend. #LitsyWalkers

Kaye Golden stars for walking ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. I know what you mean about being cooped up. It‘s great to see blue skies ! 6y
catebutler @kaye Thanks, Julie! I can‘t tell you how fab this little Litsy walking group is, it‘s just the sort of challenge and motivation I like and need. 6y
Kaye Yep, I know it helps me pry my Behind off the couch. I know if you guys are doing it, I will too. Plus it‘s fun. Clears my head. Good to get outside. Breathe fresh air. 6y

catebutler @kaye Exactly! I couldn‘t have put it better myself. I had a smile on my face the entire time I was walking (even whilst avoiding black ice)! ☺️ 6y
Tamra Thanks for mentioning the tagged book, I downloaded it from Amazon. 👍🏾 6y
Crazeedi What a gorgeous view! 6y
BarbaraBB Gorgeous picture 😍 6y
LauraBeth Wow - this is gorgeous! 😍 6y
catebutler @Tamra My pleasure! You‘ll have to let me know what you think. I‘ve always been intrigued with the Wild West and I loved this was from a perspective of a woman during that time period. 6y
catebutler @Crazeedi Thanks, Diane! 6y
catebutler @BarbaraBB Thank you!! 6y
catebutler @LauraBeth Thank you! It has been so pretty today. 6y
Tamra @catebutler me too, I really enjoy a good western read or film/series! 6y
Freespirit Wow! Gorgeous. So peaceful. 6y
catebutler @Tamra If you have any recommendations, let me know! 6y
catebutler @Freespirit It was so pretty today, I ended up going out again, this afternoon, and the snow‘s already melting - the temps raised 10 degrees. 6y
catebutler @Tamra Yes! I finally read it last year, and loved it! What an epic story. 6y
Tanisha_A Breathtaking view! 6y
catebutler @Tanisha_A I feel so spoiled having beautiful mountains so close! 6y
BiblioLitten What a stunning view! Looks absolutely magical 😍😍 6y
catebutler @BiblioLitten It really was a magical morning! I wish pictures could capture just how magical it looked! It‘s always so pretty the day after a big storm. 6y
Kaye Double gold stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for going out twice. 💕. I hope you like the book. I know it‘s hard for some to get into audiobooks. Takes a bit of getting used to. 6y
hilded Winter Wonderland, beautiful ❄️❄️ 6y
catebutler @kaye It was such a beautiful day, so it was easy to make it a double. 😊 I listen to audiobooks during my commute, but usually podcasts or music when I cook, clean or workout. I find I easily tune out the book for some reason - I do think the narrator makes a big difference too! 6y
catebutler @hilded Thank you! It was such a beautiful day yesterday, and now we‘re back to winter greys. 😊 6y
Kaye The narrator is definitely important. Almost as important as the author. A lousy narrator can ruin a decent book. If you wanna listen to podcasts it‘s fine too. Whatever works best for you 6y
BookBabe What incredibly gorgeous scenery! 😍 Whereabouts are you located? I live in the mountains of Pennsylvania in the USA but it (sadly) looks nothing like that here. 😭 6y
catebutler @BookBabe I‘m right outside Salt Lake City, Utah. The mountains are so pretty here, and I‘m constantly reminding myself to take advantage of them, especially since I‘m less than a five minute drive to the mouth of the canyon. Your mountains are beautiful too! I love back East, it‘s so gorgeous especially during the autumn. 6y

Urilla? Willa? I guess they were close enough that the proofreader missed it.

Enjoyable book by the way, despite the myriad of typos.

Beckys_Books I couldn't help but notice the Lamar, Mo reference on the line above. That is an actual small town in southwest Missouri. I used to live about 15 minutes away from it. 6y
zsuzsanna_reads Is Urilla an actual name? I've never heard it before 6y
Texreader @Beckys_Books Thats so cool! Small world 6y
Texreader @zsuzsanna_reads I initially thought so until I kept reading about Willa after that... 6y

I‘m enjoying, to my great surprise, this “western.” I got it because it was a free historical fiction ebook on Amazon but did not expect to like it much since I‘m generally not a reader of westerns (except for notables Lonesome Dove and News of the World). Here a young woman escapes her overbearing mother in California to go marry a bartender in Tombstone, AZ. She will eventually marry Wyatt Earp. Great writing is making it a fun read so far.

#TBRtrmptation post! Josephine Marcus, daughter of Jewish immigrants, is lured west with a promise of marriage to Johnny Behan, a famous Arizona lawman. So she leaves her parents to join Johnny in Tombstone. She soon finds Behan unreliable & finds Wyatt Earp a much better match. As their new romance blooms & Johnny's jealousy rages, an iconic rivalry develops which will memorably shock the nation. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

rubyslippersreads I read this as an ARC and really liked it. Pair with 8y
ValerieAndBooks I read this and enjoyed it, although I felt there was a lot of white-washing -- in that both Josephine and Wyatt were a lot more rough around the edges in real life. 8y
ValerieAndBooks @rubyslippersreads thanks for your recommendation! I've stacked that one. 8y
rubyslippersreads @ValerieAndBooks I'm sure they were. 😏 8y

She is afraid and she spreads fear. I want to be fearless and spread life.

Another great line from a Western with a Jewish girl as the main character in wild and rowdy Tombstone. She's hanging out with the Earp brothers and Doc Holliday...before the big shootout at the corral.

Great imagination!

I was tired of playing with dolls and I had no desire to be a porcelain princess on a shelf myself.

Loving this read! Lines like this are why. Free with my Amazon Prime, and as I proctor the French competition for middle and high school kiddos at my college, it's hard not to LOL!🤣😂

We women endure like grudges.

I love that line...and personally think it is true, and would add that no one can hold a grudge like a woman. Loving this e-book!

Pickpick

Historical fiction from POV of Josephine Marcus, who left San Francisco for the Wild West of Tombstone. Takes place in the 1880s during all the gunslinging action there. Fast-paced story on my ebook. A pick, although if it was a hard copy I don't know that I'd keep it on my shelf long-term. I suspect her story was whitewashed a bit in this book, also. (Picture is from the 'net; they're buried at Jewish Hills of Eternity Memorial Park, Colma, CA).

Started this historical fiction ebook at the club today. It's from the POV of Josephine Marcus Earp who left her Jewish family for the Wild West, first partnering with Johnny Behan then Wyatt Earp. Oddly enough the woman on the cover doesn't match any pictures online of the real Josephine Earp??!!

LitHousewife I just watched Tombstone for the first time. I enjoyed it. Weird choice of cover, though. 8y
ValerieAndBooks @LitHousewife I agree-- it doesn't match the era either (1880s) but at least I think it's starting out good so far. 8y
ValerieAndBooks Oh and @LitHousewife -- I saw Tombstone years ago -- can't remember if she was a character?? 8y
LitHousewife @ValerieAndBooks At the beginning Wyatt had a girlfriend who was an opium addict and then met her (an actress - I'm assuming that's Josephine). 8y
ValerieAndBooks @LitHousewife it's probably her-- at the beginning she's an actress. I have a feeling I'll be wanting to watch Tombstone again soon! 8y
