A girl who went missing 4 months ago, walks out of the woods and is hit by a car. She has been subjected to brutal treatment during her captivity and there are also 3 other girls who are still missing. Erica is writing a book and is in contact with a woman in jail who has a link to Patrik's case of missing girls.

EadieB This is the 9th book in the Patrik Hedstrom series and my favorite of the series so far. It is tightly plotted and the characters are very interesting. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series and would highly recommend readers to start at book 1 and learn more about the characters of this unique Scandinavian crime series. 4y

A little late for #NordicNoir, but I finally got around to read the 9th book about Erica Falck and Patrik Hedström. This time a young girl gets hit by a car and dies, but before this she has been missing for several months. Where has she been in the meantime? And what about the other girls gone missing across the country?

This book felt less drawn out than some of her others, even if I get a little tired of always being told how difficult it

AnneCecilie is to be a mother to small children and that Läckberg tells her story the same way every time. (edited) 4y

Andrew65 I enjoyed the book but felt some bits were a it too samey to the previous book, especially with the back story. A bit more originality was called for (which pleased to see happens in the next book). 4y

Butterfinger Eew. That whole family was disturbing. How could that mom (forgot her name) let that happen around her son? He grew up to be just like his father. Disgusting. 4y
Butterfinger And Marta volunteered that girl to him to show she would always choose him. 😠🤮 4y
Andrew65 @Butterfinger I agree this was beyond disgusting. Sickening even! 4y

Andrew65 This is the very core of the series, I think without Erica‘s meddling there would be no series. I love the different way she gets to meddle in the cases in the series, sometimes though Patrick sometimes through his colleagues. The Erica bits are some of my favourite parts of the series, I think it is her and Mellberg that makes me read and really enjoy the series. Some of the cold cases recently have been a tad samey. (edited) 4y
Butterfinger @Andrew65 I like Erica and Mellburg is the person you hate to love. It was funny when Patrik was being teased at the national-level meeting about her. 4y
Andrew65 @Butterfinger That was a great scene. He does get grief for Erika but without her how many cases would not be solved. She can be a bit of a bull in a china shop though. 4y

If this is an entire work of fiction, why did Lachberg write that first paragraph? Just to confuse me? I enjoyed the family parts of this book more than the mystery, investigation, and conclusion. I barely tolerate torture, recycled plots (you've already written about kidnapped and tortured girls Camilla - Book 2 and an abusive child - Book 3), and repugnant psychopaths.

#NordicNoir @Tove_Reads @AnneCecilie @EadieB @Andrew65

EadieB That first paragraph is certainly an interesting one and may be a part of the reason she has written about this subject matter so much. I haven't read this yet but will be reading it soon. Thanks for your review! 4y

Starting book 9 in the Patrik Hedstrom series. Seems a bit shorter than some.

EadieB Hope you enjoy book 9 I still need to read book 8 4y
Andrew65 Once I finish this series I need to get back to Jussi Adler-Olsen, only read two of them. @EadieB (edited) 4y

Getting so used to the writing I was able to predict most things. There are things I love, like the quirky village and the police squad, but there are more things I dislike. Too dragged out, annoyed by the “its so hard being a parentâ€, Anna‘s behavior, the repetitiveness, which I feel is growing. I wonder if this village has the most unlikeable characters on the planet? Girls have gone missing, one is found alive without eyes or tongue. 👇ðŸ¾

Tove_Reads â˜ðŸ¾She dies. Who did this to her, and where are the other girls? Erica is investigating an old case. A woman killed her husband, and Erica visits her. Are these cases related? Naturally, Erica gets caught sniffing around by her not too happy husband. Ending was meh. #NordicNoir (edited) 4y
Andrew65 Oh no! 😔 4y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Just my opinion. Many seems to love it. 4y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads They are starting to feel a bit samey. 4y
Tove_Reads @andrew65 Usually it‘s quite nice to find certain elements in books, but too much is too much. Was happy that nazis were out of this one. I agree with her that Sweden‘s nazi friendship should be written about, but that‘s nonfiction. Same with bringing up children, but there should be plenty of those books out there. 4y

I really enjoy this mystery series. I haven't read all of them yet, which reminds me...*off to request some more holds from the library.* #WomeninTranslation #aprilbookshowers @RealLifeReading

tricours That's so weird, why wouldn't the publisher spell her name correctly? 🙄 8y
sherryvdh @tricours I'm not sure. I've seen other editions where it was spelled correctly. I won this copy last year from the publisher, so maybe it was an edition that they had on hand that was misprinted? Now I feel like I need to check all the other books that came in that prize box. 8y

The weather is snowy/rainy, and my husband said he'll pick up the couple things we need at the grocery store. So, I've made myself a mocha in my favourite mug, and am going to curl up and read while Little Man plays and watches a movie.
I haven't read anything by this author before, but I'm almost halfway through and I'm really enjoying it so far!

#litsyitalia

Camilla is back and once again she uses the same deadly mix of gruesome atrocities, familiar characters and incredible twists. THE ICE CHILD is for me the best book of the series for me that I must say, is not for everybody, unless you have no problems to sleep at night. For those who appreciated Gerritsen earliest works and Samuel Bjork‘s novels here is a book that might be perfect for you. Online on my blog full review #litsy #crimefiction

The Ice Child was my first experience with the author Camilla Lackberg. I did enjoy it but I had a hell of a time trying to keep track of all the characters. Aside from that it was a fast paced read. And that ending! Wow.

Another AMAZING piece of Scandinavian crime fiction from the queen, Camilla Läckberg ?? the central case was disturbing, the story so fast paced, and the characters are as endearing as ever. PLUS that ending!!!? fans of this series will LOVE this book - and if you've never read Läckberg, do yourself a favor and pick up the first in the series, THE ICE PRINCESS. #crimefiction

I am loooving this book!!! Läckberg seriously knows how to write a layered, compelling police procedural with a big heart. This case is creeepy and I love how different threads of the story are coming together. Main character Erica is researching her next true crime book (she's a writer), and her research is becoming interwoven with her police officer husband's current case. Love it! #crimefiction

This book is action-packed already, and I'm only 50 pages in!!! ? I love how Läckberg always interweaves chapters from the past throughout her stories - I love trying to figure out how the characters in the flashback chapters will impact the story's central mystery. ? #crimefiction

Bakingbookworm She's been on my radar for a couple of years - ever since a library patron insisted that I read Lackberg. I need to find some time and give her a try. He for the reminder. 8y
