This funny, touching picture book the perfect gift for a child to give to his/her own teacher celebrates the difference a good teacher can make. Written as a thank-you note to a special teacher from the student who never forgot her, this moving story makes a great read-aloud and a perfect gift for Teacher Appreciation Day or the end of the school year. Dear Teacher, Whenever I had something to tell you, I tugged on your shirt and whispered in your ear. This time Im writing a letter. So begins this heartfelt picture book about a girl who prefers running and jumping to listening and learningand the teacher who gently inspires her. From stomping through creeks on a field trip to pretending to choke when called upon to read aloud, this books young heroine would be a challenge to any teacher. But this teacher isnt just any teacher. By listening carefully and knowing just the right thing to say, she quickly learns that the girls unruly behavior is due to her struggles with reading. And at the very end, we learn what this former student is now: a teacher herself.

This has become an automatic end of year gift to my children's teachers. This goes out to all the teachers that make our kids' days easier even if the kids don't always seem appreciative! I can't get through this one without crying!

This is a tearjerker at the end of the year. It‘s a heartwarming picture book about a young woman who writes a letter to her second-grade teacher—as she is about to become a teacher herself. In the letter, she thanks her teacher, recounts her teacher‘s patience and understanding and seeming all-knowingness & more. Love this book about great teachers and how they teach & inspire young people and, in doing so, leave a lasting impression.

Holy puddle of tears. 😭😭😭

MelissaSue81 I was too busy choking back tears to write more earlier. My 6 year old IS the child in the book, and this teacher could have been her kindergarten teacher. Her first grade teacher is great too, but her kindergarten teacher was just the most special person. Would it be weird to send her this a year later? 7y
SilversReviews No...send the book. She will love it. 7y

A heartwarming (RF) story by Deborah Hopkinson and illustrated by Nancy Carpenter. A story about an “exasperating” little girl who grew up to write a letter to her teacher about how she remembered all the ways that she tested the patience of her 2nd grade teacher. On her first day of her new job, she will think about her favorite second grade teacher because she became a teacher too! #UCFLAE3414SP18

JenniferMc A fun activity for kids to write a letter to their teachers. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/All-About-Me-Letter-to-My-Teacher-Wr... 7y

JenniferMc @kylamarie5 It‘s a really cute book that has a twist at the end. I think students would really enjoy this book and I love that you can incorporate a lesson plan with it. 7y

SUCH a sweet little book! Any teacher who has had a difficult but ultimately rewarding student will be able to connect with this! And so will anyone who has ever been that student 😜.
