Garden of the Purple Dragon | 
I enjoyed re reading this book.
It is about a young girl named ping who is a slave until she has to look after a baby dragon named Kai which is her destiny.
I think it has a strong theme of survival because she has to look out for enemies and keep the dragon safe the whole time.
