#setinthemiddleeast #maybookflowers. A couple of years ago I read these two memoirs about the Iranian revolution. One book is about a leftist intellectual who tries to keep teaching. The other book is about a teenage girl who unwittingly gets in trouble with the revolutionary guard. The real life version of The Handmaids Tale. Photo credit Google
Powerful, chilling & heartbreaking are just some words that can be used to describe this book. It's a powerful memoir & a look into Iran history, revolution & landscape that I knew nothing about when I began reading it. The horrors that Marina & thousands of unnamed others faced in Evin are brought into the light for the world to see & it should be seen & heard. This book shows that silence can be a prison that we all must not become enchained in.
Next up in my reading docket. I picked this book up in a book haul a few months ago and finally getting into it.
Such an amazing story! Very eye opening, what these girls go through is something we can't even begin to fathom! Heartbreaking and powerful! A must read!!
